My Client, Ella Guru, has been a wonderful experience. When I began this project I wanted the shop to have a fun and free feeling, much like the owner. The walls were covered in murals with all kids of fun and creative creatures so when I designed a logo I hoped to embody that feeling. I used Coffee stains to crete Ella, making her as organic and fun as possible. I then created the letting using a pack of random stencils and scanning them into the computer, removing the counters in order to make it that much more interesting and quirky. The colors I chose were based off of those in the original logo as to not take everything away. Anything blue represents Ella, and the Green is attached to music. When the logo was finished I had two elements that could work together or separately to rebrand ella guru.
Because I established separation within the Logo, I was free to create a character and a story for the now mascot of ella guru, Ella. In the stationary I began to give Ella her own life and a whimsical feeling of freedom and spontaneity. This creation of a character allows the shop to breath and shake off any corporate feeling. The stationary embraces the sale of CD's. The envelope is the same size and opens along the edge.
The idea behind the advertisements was to appeal to everyone, because everyone likes music. Music helps to make us unique and exists in our everyday, even when it's boring, so the tag line "music is out everyday" was born. The ad's depict Ella doing mundane house chores but with the headphone wire creating the chore, hinting at the involvement of music as making the chore less obnoxious.
My specialty item, a record cleaning kit, combines all of the previous elements into one box. Spontaneous lettering, blue's and greens, and Ella being herself.
